The building owner wanted to convert an older industrial building into a property that could be leased as high-end retail space.  Constructed out of masonry and plaster, the interior vertical surfaces had multiple layers of paint.  Additionally, the brick that had been directly exposed to the harsh conditions of the industrial environment was covered in black soot and efflorescence.  After several unsuccessful attempts by another contractor at removing the paint with chemical applications, Everclear was brought in to remove the plaster and paint from the masonry surfaces prior to the interior build out.  After mechanically removing the plaster from any surface to which it was applied, we utilized walnut shell and compressed air to successfully remove the paint and residual debris from the vertical surfaces while still retaining the aesthetics and character of old masonry units that the owner desired.
